Events of day-to-day living require persons to:
- Relate with family, friends, or colleagues
- Successfully attend to, and complete a programme of studies
- Relate to colleagues, or accomplish tasks at the work place
- Handle unexpected life events, such as situations created by Covid-19.
Events or interactions may not always work out the way we expect them to, or want.
- Children may develop conflicts with parents
- Spouses could develop serious differences with one another
- Students may find it difficult to cope with their studies
- Relationships between friends may degenerate
- Professionals or employees may need to work to stringent deadlines, or might get into conflicts with others at the workplace
Situations like these could leave a person emotionally disturbed, embroiled in unsatisfying relationships, or functioning less effectively than one did earlier.
Persons who feel overwhelmed by unsettling life situations may want to seek the assistance of a counsellor.
Counsellors help their clients to get a perspective on their life situations, manage their emotions, and work out plans for relating and functioning more adaptively or effectively.
A counsellor might also help conflicted spouses and family members to understand and sort out their differences, and relate more amicably with one another.
Prafulta offers personal counselling and family counselling
What the counselling process is like…
- A counselling session can last between 45 minutes to an hour.
- All information shared by the client during counselling sessions, including any forms the client may fill, is strictly confidential. The counsellor explains the limits to confidentiality during the initial session.
- Clients may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months, or a longer course that lasts for several months. This will depend on the nature and severity of the difficulty, the goals and objectives set by the client and the therapist, and the client’s commitment to the therapy process.
Currently, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, sessions are offered online.
